Have a green project that you need a great contractor for?  One of my favorite green contractors that I love to recommend is Darren Moore at Ecovations.  If you are a Planet Green viewer you will recognize him from the hit green show AlterEco.

Ecovations is a Build-It-Green Certified Green Builder. They are also an Energy Star® Home Performance Partner sponsored by the CBPCA. Whether your contracting job is design related, repurposing reclaimed materials, energy efficiency, water conservation or clean energy technologies, Ecovations is prepared to apply green technology and scientific data to create the green improvement of your dreams.

They are a fully licensed California contractor with a great reputation and my personal recommendation.  Tell Darren that Karen Nation sent you!  And check back next month for my personal interview with Darren Moore, Eco-MacGyver.

In a newly awakened world of consumers looking to reduce their ecological footprint there is an amazing organization that has plans to change the way in which we live in Los Angeles.

Build it Green is a non-profit organization with plans to facilitate the greening of 10,000 Los Angeles residences by the end of this year.  Their mission is to promote green building practices in southern California by focusing on energy efficient and resource efficient building practices and offering training, tools and expertise to individuals and groups within the housing industry.

Whether you are a home owner, architect, investor or agency, Build it Green is an excellent resource for all of your green questions and concerns.

There’s  an amazing spectrum of opportunities to be green right now, and growing expontentially every year. A fitting time to be resourceful and an abundance of information at our fingertips makes it even easier.

Being green is not an all or nothing proposition.  Whether you want to do a complete renovation of your home or if you’re simply looking to reduce your carbon footprint by a toe’s-length, there is room for you at the green table.  We all have the ability to make a difference, and I believe  home is the ideal place to begin.

In my blog I will share information about green remodeling & building, local green designers, architects, developers, LEED and Energy Raters, city programs, Green Homes available in the Los Angeles area, and products and services to help you on your quest!

So check back weekly… I hope you’ll join in the discussion, ask questions, voice your opinion, or share any green home projects you’re working on too!
